Pinkoya is cellist/vocalist Theresa Wong, percussionist/vocalist Dohee Lee and koto-player Kanoko Nishi. The trio ignites the kindling of their sound materials in explosive and lyrical improvisations, expanding the vocabulary of traditional acoustic instruments into a universe of unexpected landscapes and otherworldly conversations. In August 2009, Pinkoya was invited to perform at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco, responding to the visual art of Leslie Shows and Amanda Ross-Ho as part of the New Frequencies Series / Wallworks exhibit. |
