Selmaduse huddles in the corner of a fifth dimensional chatroom where Hildegaard von Bingen, Charlie Chaplin and Elvin Jones dance with a gang of three year old twins, singing, cheering and cooking up songs with common sense like your mother makes jellyfish.

THE UNLEARNING
Theresa Wong (cello, voice) & Carla Kihlstedt (violin, voice)

Theresa’ debut release on Tzadik records, The Unlearning is a collection of songs inspired by the Disasters of War etchings by Francisco Goya. Recorded and performed in duo with the extraordinary Carla Kihlstedt, this intimate and unique work serenades, shouts and cries the questions and reflections on violence, injustice and absurdity of today’s topsy-turvy world through modern art songs in an experimental pop vein.

The evening will begin with:
HELLO DUST (Carla Kihlstedt (voice, violin, pump organ) & (Matthias Bossi (drums, percussion, keyboards, voice,
bass harmonica)

Drawing on their love of art song, folk song, industrial music, improvised music and heart-wrenching balladry, drummer/keyboardist Matthias Bossi and violinist/vocalist Carla Kihlstedt have formed Hello Dust. If you listen closely, you'll hear traces of their other musical associations (Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Tin Hat, 2 Foot Yard, The Book of Knots, Fred Frith's Cosa Brava), but this project dares to peel back influence and to reveal a music that is stripped down and intimate. Hello Dust is raw and beautiful, sparse and rich, lighthearted and full of pathos - bringing to life the small stories of unsung heroes... and almost always telling the truth.
